In many situations, the durability of concrete is directly related to its permeability. The contribution of silica fume is to reduce the permeability of the concrete. By reducing the permeability, the time is extended to prevent any aggressive chemical to get into the concrete where it can do its damage. Here are a few examples of how reducing permeability is used in actual structures.

Microsilica (Silicafume)
Light gray microsilica powder containing about 96% – 94% (Sio2) is to reinforce the mechanical strength, density, increased durability against Ice and freezing cycles and reduce the permeability of concrete in construction is increasing, pozzolanic activity index of 117 (7 days) – higher results in tests 7 and 28 day compressive strength of concrete

Whether it is under oxygen or air environment, free carbon content decreases sharply from 400 to 500 °C, and slightly decreases from 500 to 700 °C, then slightly increases at 800 °C. The LOI stably decreases with the increase of temperature from 400 to 800 °C. To achieve the best carbon reduction effect, the reaction temperature is set to 700 °C under both oxygen and air environments.

New and highly classy building structures make ever-increasing demands for high quality construction materials. Many of these demands can be fulfilled with the help of construction chemicals that are currently an integral component of the construction industry.

Expanded Polystyrene Insulation, more commonly referred to as EPS, is a closed cell insulation that has been around since the 1950’s. EPS is made of 98% trapped air and only 2% plastic, making it an efficient insulator with a small amount of raw material.

SIO2 Smoke is produced from the processing of certain raw materials, such as woodchips, quartz, and coal, through the operation of a furnace. As this smoke is lifted and vented through the furnace stack, residue from the smoke sticks to the stack. This residue is called Silica Fume. Silica Fume can be used as hydrophilic or hydroponic. Once seen as a bothersome by-product that had to be removed and disposed of industry realized this residue had certain properties that strengthened concrete and lengthened life expectancy in corrosive environments. Silica Fume Concrete is 100 to 150 times smaller than a cement particle and can fill the interstitial voids creating a filler effect.
